Self-pay

Self-Pay Hip ReplacementFrom £13,500.

Self-pay means a single, fully inclusive figure agreed up front. No surprise bills, no ongoing balance, no insurance pre-authorisation chasing. The standard SPAIRE Hips package starts at £13,500 for suitable patients.

What self-pay means

You pay directly. You see the bill before you see the surgery.

“Self-pay” means you are paying for your own care without involving an insurer. The package figure is agreed in writing before you commit to anything, and it covers the standard course of your treatment from pre-op review through to follow-up.

Patients usually choose self-pay because they want a clear price, a choice of consultant, and a sensible timeline. Some also choose it because their insurance does not cover the procedure or because they prefer not to involve an insurer at all.

How this compares

Honest comparison: where private wins, where the NHS does.

You are paying for choice and time, not better implants. The operation, the implants and the surgical principles are the same. The differences are who, where and when.

A few clinical and personal factors can move the final figure.

Complexity of the case

Revision surgery, unusual anatomy or significant prior interventions sit outside the standard package and are quoted separately.

Imaging needed

If additional or specialist imaging is required before surgery, it is itemised in writing.

Implant choice

Specific implants requested or recommended for your anatomy may carry a different cost from the standard option.

Anaesthetic / fitness review

Pre-operative investigations to confirm fitness for anaesthetic are sometimes required and itemised when they are.

Rehabilitation choice

Extended physiotherapy beyond the structured plan is available as an add-on.

Hospital stay

Longer stays for clinical reasons are not charged ad-hoc; the package covers a standard inpatient pathway.

Before you proceed

Five questions worth asking any self-pay clinic.

  1. 1

What exactly is in the package and what could be added later?

  2. 2

Who will I see during the pathway?

  3. 3

What happens if a complication arises after I go home?

  4. 4

How are extra costs flagged before they are incurred?

  5. 5

How long is the quote valid for if I take time to decide?
